This July, two brand-new theatres will debut in London created by the award-winning team behind the King’s Cross Theatre. Launching in Wembley Park and White City Place, Troubadour Theatres will work with well-known and emerging production companies to stage world-class entertainment within flexible spaces.

Speaking about launching Troubadour Wembley Park and Troubadour White City Theatres, Oliver Royds and Tristan Baker, founders of Troubadour Theatres said:

“We are thrilled to be launching our two new theatres this July in Wembley Park and White City Place. Both areas have undergone an extraordinary transformation and we are delighted that Troubadour will provide diverse theatre programs at the heart of these developments.

Troubadour Theatres are designed to meet the needs of modern audiences with comfortable seating, generous toilet facilities, increased leg room and spacious, welcoming bars and restaurants. For theatre makers we know that both Wembley Park and White City Place will offer flexible, dynamic and exciting performance spaces which can be designed around their shows.

We are excited to offer an alternative to traditional theatres and bring new innovative spaces to audiences and producers alike.”

TROUBADOUR WEMBLEY PARK THEATRE
Located within the former Fountain Studios, which were best known for being the venue of live televised shows including The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Pop Idol, Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre is in the heart of Wembley Park. The theatre is part of the ambitious cultural strategy for the area, which builds on its global reputation for sport, music and live entertainment to transform it into North West London’s dynamic new cultural neighbourhood. The venue is a flexible 1000-2000 capacity space that can be transformed to suit the requirements for a range of productions - traditional proscenium arch theatre, in-the-round theatrical experiences, or immersive shows. Within the theatre, there is also a modern state-of-the-art restaurant (set to open later in 2019) and a large, sociable bar space.

The first production to open Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre will be Dinosaur World Live. An interactive show for ages 3 and over, Dinosaur World Live is an entertaining and educational live show for all the family with a host of impressive pre-historic creatures on stage. Performances run from 18 July – 1 September, with a press performance on Sunday 21 July at 2pm. Tickets are now on sale. This will be followed by the Chinese theatrical experience Soul of Shaolin. Combining dazzling martial arts expertise with a touching story of loss and redemption, Soul of Shaolin will amaze, excite and inspire audiences. Playing in London for the first time, performances run from 26 September – 6 October with tickets now on sale.

Later in the year, the National Theatre’s landmark production of War Horse will return to London for a strictly limited run at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre. Having visited 11 countries around the world and playing to nearly 8 million people over the past 11 years, including a recent sold-out return to the National Theatre, War Horse is now on a UK and international tour throughout 2019, which will include their Troubadour performances. Tickets for the six-week run from 18 October – 23 November are now on sale.

TROUBADOUR WHITE CITY THEATRE
Taking over part of the site of the former BBC Media Village, Troubadour White City Theatre will open this July and join a thriving new community rebranded as White City Place, neighbouring destinations such as Soho House, Television Centre and Westfield Shopping Centre. The new state-of-the-art hub consists of a 1,200-seat fully flexible theatre plus an 800-seat multi-purpose space with an interconnecting foyer complete with a spacious, welcoming bar. The theatre will stage first-class productions from a host of production companies and artists reflecting the vitality of London, the TV and film heritage of White City and the dynamism of the UK’s theatre scene. Excellent transport links, with White City and Wood Lane stations minutes away, will ensure for an enhanced audience experience as well as comfortable seating and increased leg room in both theatre spaces.

Troubadour White City Theatre will launch with Sally Cookson’s magical retelling of Peter Pan by J M Barrie. First seen at the Bristol Old Vic and reconceived at the National Theatre in 2016, Peter Pan features innovative aerial acrobatics and bursts with magic, mischief, and make-believe, making for a funny and moving version of a much-loved story. Performances run from 20 July - 27 October, with a press performance on Saturday 27 July at 2pm. Tickets are now on sale.

Also taking place this summer from 23 July will be the very first TroubaKids Festival – a family theatre festival with four shows playing in rep within the 800-seater space at the Troubadour White City Theatre. The productions performing are Little Baby Bum Live, Monstersaurus!, The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show and Aliens Love Underpants.
